Halili seeks ban of billboards at SCTEX
By Reynaldo G. Navales
MABALACAT -- Pampanga Board Member Tarcicio Halili has urged the National Government to prohibit the placing of advertisement billboards at Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) in order to preserve the freeway's scenic beauty.
Halili, chairman of the Board Members League in Central Luzon, said he will file an ordinance at the Provincial Board (PB) disallowing the putting up of commercial signages along the expressway.
"The scene along the superhighway is so nice and I feel relaxed when I travel (there). We must help each other preserve its natural beauty," he said.
The board member added that he will urge his colleagues in Tarlac and Bataan to come up with similar ordinances prohibiting the establishment of billboards along the highway.
Halili said signages may still be placed at SCTEX but only at the ends of the highway.
"We understand the need to get income in these times. But they should put billboards on selected areas and not along its entire stretch," Halili said.
